How Will We Teach And Learn?

III. Humboldt Debate: How Will We Teach And Learn?
The Future of Academic Studies, July 8th 2010, 7pm, Jacob-und-Wilhelm-Grimm-Zentrum, Auditorium

German universities face a vast array of problems and debates: overcrowded lecture halls on the one hand, low graduate rates on the other; free access to higher education versus the reproduction of elites; graduate unemployment and a simultaneous lack of skilled professionals for newly developing professions. Our universities need to find an answer to the question of how to provide an education system that is open to all, while at the same time promoting our brightest minds. The third panel discussion on the future of academic studies will therefore ask what we can learn from universities around the world to enhance the quality of academic education.

Speakers (To be confirmed)

  • Jürgen Zöllner (Senator for education, science and research, Berlin)
  • Sascha Spoun (Leuphana University)
  • Ben Stotz (SDS, Die Linke)
  • Gerhard Teufel (German National Academic Foundation)

Moderator: Martin Spiewak (DIE ZEIT)
