Credit rating agencies have been heavily criticized for their role in the current financial crises. Regarding the Lehman bankruptcy rating agencies were accused of acting too late. With respect to the current Greece crisis rating agencies were accused of acting too fast and thus aggravate the country’s financial situation. These criticisms have sparked renewed interest in the fundamental role of rating agencies as certifying intermediaries and the possible need for their regulation.
Hierbei handelt es sich um eine akademische Konferenz, auf der der letzte Stand der Forschung zum Thema Ratingagenturen vorgestellt wird. Die Keynoteansprache wird Prof. Edward Altman von der New York University halten.
